About Auto Repair IQ
Real cost data. No shop. No upsell.
"Most people walk into a repair shop with no idea what a fair price looks like. Auto Repair IQ fixes that - one data-driven estimate at a time."
What We Do
Auto Repair IQ is a free reference tool that gives you realistic repair cost estimates before you step foot in a shop. We cover the most common repairs across 30 vehicle makes and models, in 25 major US cities -- over 7,500 specific estimates in total.
Whether you drive a 2018 Honda Civic in Chicago or a 2020 Mercedes-Benz C-Class in San Francisco, we give you a credible ballpark so you can negotiate confidently, spot overcharging, and decide whether a repair is worth it.
How Our Estimates Work
Parts Pricing
We reference OEM and aftermarket parts databases, adjusted for each vehicle make's known complexity and parts availability.
City Labor Rates
Shop labor rates vary by up to 70% across US cities. We use regional rate surveys to compute city-specific labor costs for every estimate.
Vehicle Multipliers
A BMW timing belt costs 2x more than a Toyota's. Each make carries a parts and labor complexity factor built into our model.
